Angel Central is a prominent retail and leisure destination in the heart of Islington. DS.Emotion was appointed to reposition the scheme through a comprehensive placemaking strategy, redefining its brand identity and creating a clearer proposition for visitors, tenants and future occupiers.

We Are Angel

Prior to the project, Angel Central suffered from weak brand direction, declining perception and increasing competition. Multiple vacancies and a lack of marketing strategy had left the destination struggling to define its role within the rapidly evolving retail landscape.

A Place that Works for People

Through extensive workshops, research and stakeholder engagement, we developed a strategy focused on audience insight, brand clarity and improved visitor experience.

The approach combined brand development, placemaking initiatives and a programme of events to reconnect the scheme with its local community.

A new brand identity positioned Angel Central as a vibrant and inclusive destination reflecting the energy of Islington. The refreshed visual language introduced bold colour, confident typography and a flexible toolkit designed to communicate events, retail and leisure experiences.

Major activations such as the Feel Good Festival and Do Good Festival transformed the destination through workshops, talks, pop-ups and cultural events.

These initiatives activated vacant spaces, supported local businesses and strengthened Angel Central’s role as a community hub.
